Have I been conned by British Gas?
I had an old central heating combi boiler. Each year for the last ten years when it was serviced by British Gas the Engineer said that because of the age of the boiler some of the parts were no longer available. My attitude was that if its not broke, don’t fix it. However, with the new high efficiency boilers on the market I decided to get a quote from British Gas. That was last Nov. I was told that there was a special offer on and the price was reduced by £350 pounds for anyone over sixty. At more than £2,500 it was a bit more than I could afford. Then the chancellor announced his boiler scrappage scheme, so I decided to go for it, only to be told that the special offer was finished, I thought what a con, but decided that, although I would be struggling I would go for it anyway. The scrappage scheme is now finished and surprise, surprise, British Gas have put the special offer back on. I feel it is British Gas that has made £400 out of the scheme, not me. Have I been conned? and if I have what can I do about it?
There was a case like yours in the consumer pages of the Daily Mail today,Weds. Why not get a copy from your library and write to the woman who really slagged off British gas.I would not deal with them, but many do with no problems. That scrapage was a sort of a con.You had to use the plumber of their choice. I changed mine last November as well, and I am over 60,quite a bit over! I didnt go for the scrappage scheme as I wanted my own private plumber. It must have been a big boiler for £2,500. Dont take notice of these "schemes"
yes of course u have, british gas con everyone! I’d change to another energy supplier if i were u, before they break in 2 ur house and change ur meters!!!
