What sort of price should a new boiler be?
I’ve been having problems with my heating system and have now been advised by a heating engineer that I need a new boiler. Mine is about 25 years old, gas central heating. i just wondered if anyone knew the sort of price a new one, fully fitted should be please. I’ve been quoted in the region of £2200 which seems an awful lot. My boiler does qualify for the £400 scrappage scheme.
Thanks very much.
If your system is 25 years old then you should consider upgrading the whole system.
You can buy the majority of the materials from a site like http://www.mrcentralheating.com/ .
Choose a boiler and pick the radiators from the list, match the existing ones you have at present.
Find a local installer and save yourself a few quid.
As you have given no details at all of your existing system I will assume you have a normal domestic boiler installation with an airing cupboard with a cylinder and the suggestion is a combi then the price is not unreasonable but there are so many variables involved in this kind of job the price could easily vary from 1800 to over 4000 or thereabout especially if you use a well known national company.
am asuming that you already have a combi boiler and its just new for old in that case a plumber would charge £300 tops for labour depending on how long it will take usally about around 4 hours. ask him for a quote just for labour and you can get a boiler from any were from £400 - £1200 i would recomend a main it the same a baxi but cheaper and all baxi parts work on it so any faults are readly avalable and resonably priced. but yeah go to baxi or main boilers web site

be carefull thow you get the boiler if possible and then get a pric eon labour as the plumeber wills ay yeha this price is with the £400 off but most probbly be £200 off maby £300 off thell get you a cheaper boiler but charge you more labour might get a really honest one thow.
but for a boiler swap should eb around 1400 tops minus 400 be around 1,000 but get a price for labour and then price the boiler up and ask the plumber what size bolier would eb sufficent main 30 he will be sufficent enought for a medium sized 4 bed roomed house and is priced around 700 with out the boiler scarppage scheem
Pre the scrappage scheme I was quoted £1700 for a very simple boiler change. Looks as if the heating ‘engineer’ (degree qualified, are we?!) is taking unfair advantage of the scrappage scheme Get a few quotes, ensure the quotes are from ‘Gas Safe’ register .But, whereas i dont want to see you spending money, wasting is worse.Actually, I fitted my own boiler & had it certified afterwards, in the meantime fitted a filter

about £120.00. You will know the agrevation of cleaning your system, with one of these filters 30 mins and time for a cuppa!!!!!
